Why am I seeing a "No Project for this URL" message in BugHerd?

When you visit a website, the BugHerd browser extension checks to see if the URL matches any projects that you have access to in BugHerd. This message is displayed if the browser extension can't find any matching projects.
But there's a BugHerd project for this website... what gives?!
There can be a few reasons why this error might have appeared even if you have a BugHerd project for this site.
1. The BugHerd account you're logged in as doesn't have access to this project
The most common reason for this is that you haven't been invited to the project. Contact the project owner and ask them to invite you to the project.
Alternatively, if you have multiple BugHerd accounts, maybe the account you're logged in to doesn't have access to this project? To fix this, go to www.bugherd.com, logout and then login as the correct account.
2. The URL isn't listed in the project's URL list
The BugHerd extension relies on the URLs listed under "Websites & Files" in your project settings to determine whether BugHerd should be active on the current site.
Check that your site’s URL is correctly listed under "Websites & Files" (see example below).
For best results, we recommend adding only the domain URL (e.g., bugherd.com) instead of a specific page URL (e.g., bugherd.com/pathname).
- ✅ If you add bugherd.com, BugHerd will work across all pages of your website.
- ❌ If you add bugherd.com/pathname, the BugHerd sidebar will only appear on that specific page and not on any other pages within your site.
By using the domain URL, you ensure that you can leave feedback anywhere on your site, even if you navigate to different pages.
3. If updated recently, the project's URL haven't yet been refreshed in your browser extension
This is sort of an extension of the previous point but if you have recently updated the project URL, it takes about 5 minutes for the extension to refresh with the latest project URLs. So go grab a coffee and relax... you've earned it.
4. The Project URL is Redirecting to Another URL
If the URL added to your BugHerd project redirects to a different URL, the extension may not recognize the site correctly.
- Double-check that the URL listed in BugHerd matches the actual URL of your site.
- If your site redirects (e.g., from http://bugherd.com to https://www.bugherd.com), try updating the "Websites & Files" section with the final destination URL.
- If possible, turn off URL redirection to ensure it is consistent.
- Avoid including unnecessary query strings or parameters in the URL unless required.
It's a common oversight that (hopefully!) is an easy fix on your end!
