Can I use BugHerd to test a native app?

  • Last updated on January 17, 2024 at 5:59 AM

BugHerd is designed to work on websites and web apps rather than native (iOS or Android) apps, but what if your project includes testing on a native app?

You can still include feedback and bugs you find in a native app, by emailing a task through to your BugHerd project. You can even include a screenshot of the issue in your email.

Emailing tasks to BugHerd

Each BugHerd project includes an email address. This email address is project-<your project key>@bugs.bugherd.com.

Note: If you're planning on emailing tasks regularly, you may want to create an alias for the project email, to make it easier to remember.

Where can I find my project key?

Click Settings on the Task Board, then select General Settings.

The General Settings window appears where you can view and copy your project key.

How do I email a task to my BugHerd project?

  1. Open the app you want to give feedback for.
  2. Take a screenshot of the issue. You can annotate the screenshot if you want.
  3. Email the screenshot to your project email. You need to include a subject line. You also need to send the email from the email you log in to the BugHerd project with.
This short video shows you what to do.
  4. The Task appears in your Task Board, including the screenshot, subject line and any extra text you added.
