Capturing screenshots in BugHerd

BugHerd with just the bug pin works great. But some issues are better resolved by being able to see exactly what the person saw on your site. This can be accomplished by grabbing a screenshot of the site when they report a bug.

Standard & Studio Plans:

To collect a screenshot the person reporting the bug needs to have the BugHerd browser extension installed.

If you've received a task without a screenshot attached then you should check with the person that reported it to verify that they have the browser extension installed.

You can install the browser extension by going to and selecting your browser.

Premium, Deluxe & Above Plans:

BugHerd will capture accurate screenshots, on desktop and mobile, on Safari, Chrome, Edge (IE), and Firefox, without the need for browser extensions or a mobile app install. Screenshots will be captured and added to tasks automatically providing the following:

  • Your content and website need to be publicly available and not behind HTTP authentication (must respond in a `200` HTTP Status Code).
  • Your site must load within 10 seconds.
  • Some assets, for example, those provided by TypeKit may not work.

In a case where the above conditions can not be met, we recommend installing the browser extension to capture screenshots.
