The new feedback experience

The new BugHerd sidebar makes it easier to collect feedback on websites, including

  • Working smoother on mobile & tablets
  • Improved look & feel
  • Support for new Safari & Firefox cookie policies

Why has the feedback experience changed?

With recent changes to the cookie policies for Safari, Firefox and Edge and the coming changes to Chrome, we needed to ensure the BugHerd sidebar included support for browsers using this new cookie policy. While we were there, we figured we'd respond to feedback and make the sidebar a little more modern and more importantly, work better on mobile devices and tablets.

What's changed with the new feedback experience?

The BugHerd sidebar

  • Tag an element of the page by clicking the plus (+) button, or leave feedback on the entire page using Screen_Shot_2022-05-31_at_4.04.39_pm.png, or leave video feedback.
  • The Status boxes have moved. You can now sort tasks by status by clicking on the Tasks Icon, then selecting Status from the Sort menu.

  • You can also sort tasks by Severity, Date created and who the task is Assigned to.
  • View tasks for All pages of the website, or just the page you're currently on.

  • Filter tasks to show only tasks you've created or tasks assigned to you by clicking the person icon.

Better mobile experience

BugHerd now has a smoother and easier mobile experience.

  • Leave feedback on an element or the entire page.
  • View tasks just for the web page you're on, or all tasks across the website.
  • Sort and filter tasks by severity, date created, assigned to or status.
  • View tasks you've created or have been assigned.

New sidebar display shortcut

Project Members and Guests can see the sidebar if they log in to BugHerd and open the website from the Task board or My Projects. You can also display the sidebar on your website using this handy shortcut:

ctrl + alt + B (Windows), or cmd + control + B (Mac).

See the new sidebar in action in the video at the top of this page.

Need to update your clients and guest users?

If your clients or guest users are having trouble seeing the new side bar or are just unsure of how to give feedback using the new sidebar, here's some information you can share with them.

Note: For clients and guests, you may need to get them to log in to BugHerd again to be able to view the new sidebar on their page.

Does the new sidebar show in production?

In May we updated the new sidebar to hide by default on production sites. This means that now, only users who have access to your BugHerd project will see the BugHerd tab on your website.

What about public feedback?

On May 17th, we released a brand new Public feedback experience for the new sidebar.
