BugHerd and Cursor: Set up the MCP server

Use this guide to connect BugHerd to Cursor so you can access projects, tasks, and comments directly from your AI workflows.

Quick Install (Recommended)

Click the link below to install BugHerd MCP in Cursor:

This will:

  • Add BugHerd as an MCP server in Cursor

  • Preconfigure the correct endpoint and permissions


Prerequisites

Before connecting:

  • You have a BugHerd account

  • You have access to at least one BugHerd organization

  • You are logged into Cursor

Install & Connect BugHerd

1. Open the install link

After clicking the link, you’ll be prompted to open Cursor.

2. Install BugHerd in Cursor

In Cursor:

  • Go to Settings → Tools & MCP

  • You’ll see BugHerd listed

  • Click Install

3. Connect your BugHerd account

After installing:

  • BugHerd will show Authentication required

  • Click Connect

You’ll be redirected to the BugHerd authorization page.

4. Authorize access

On the BugHerd screen:

  • Log in if prompted

  • Select the organization you want to connect

  • Click Allow

⚠️ Note: The selected organization determines what data Cursor can access.

5. Return to Cursor

After authorizing:

  • You’ll be redirected back to Cursor

  • BugHerd will show as Connected

Verify Your Connection

Try this prompt in Cursor:

“List my BugHerd projects”

If you see results, the connection is working.

What You Can Do

Once connected, you can:

  • View projects

  • View your assigned tasks

  • Explore project details

  • View tasks across projects

  • Add comments to tasks
