Save time and keep things consistent by setting up default columns and client permissions at the organization level. These defaults will automatically apply whenever you create a new project.

Note: You need to be a BugHerd Manager or Owner to set up task board templates.

Default Task Board

Create a default task board template with the columns you want, in the order you want them, so your new projects are ready to go from the start.

How to Set It Up:

  1. Click your organization name and select Settings.

  2. Go to the Templates tab.

  3. Under Status Columns, you can:

    • Add a column → Click Add column.

    • Remove a column → Click the X at the end of the column name.

    • Rename a column → Type over the existing name.

    • Reorder columns → Click and drag the grey square to move it.

  4. Click Save when you’re done.

Next time you create a project, your default task board columns will appear automatically.

Default Client Permissions

You can also set default client permissions at the organization level, so every new project starts with the same client access rules.

How to Set It Up:

  1. In the Templates tab (same place as task board settings), locate the Default Client Permissions section.

  2. Configure the permissions to your preferred defaults.

  3. Click Save.

Once set, these client permissions will automatically apply to every new project you create, saving time and keeping permissions consistent.

Default Tags

Set up default tags so every new project starts with the same tagging options, making organization and tracking easier from day one.

How to Set It Up:

  1. In the Templates tab, locate the Default Tags section.

  2. Add/Remove tags as needed

  3. Click Save.

Your default tags will now automatically appear in all new projects.
