BugHerd tab may appear to visitors on your production website.
Are you using the the javascript snippet to gather feedback (rather than a browser extension) on a production website?
If yes, the BugHerd tab will be visible on the website to anyone visiting your website, not just BugHerd users. Clicking the tab will open the BugHerd login screen.
Why is the BugHerd tab appearing to all users?
We recently launched our new BugHerd feedback experience that included a far better experience for Safari, Firefox, and mobile users as well as a bunch of performance & UX improvements.
Importantly, this new experience also involved a change to how BugHerd works meaning that if you install the BugHerd Javascript on your webpage, the BugHerd tab will appear for all safari & firefox users, not just users who are logged in to BugHerd. Unfortunately this change was necessary in order to support the cookie security policies that Safari, Firefox, Edge (and soon Chrome) have introduced.
What can I do about this?
As a short term solution, switch your projects back to our legacy sidebar experience.
Our legacy sidebar will continue to work as normal until Chrome implements their proposed cookie access changes (possibly some time next year).
For now we recommend that you don’t install the BugHerd Javascript code on your production websites. If you need to gather feedback on production websites, you can get your clients to install the BugHerd chrome extension as an alternative to the javascript code snippet.
Turn off the new feedback experience
To return to the old sidebar and feedback experience, click the ellipses (...) button in the sidebar enabled message and select Disable from the drop down menu.
You can also switch between the old and new sidebar from the project settings.
- Click Project Settings on the left-hand side of your task board, then select Edit Project. The Project Settings pop-up appears.
- Click the Sidebar tab to view the sidebar settings.
- Select Legacy version of the sidebar.
Those solutions don't work for me.
