Install BugHerd in Google Tag Manager

To install BugHerd in Google Tag Manager you need:

  1. A working Google Tag Manager container.
  2. An active BugHerd account and project, and
  3. The javascript code from your BugHerd project.

Copy the javascript code from your BugHerd project

  1. Open BugHerd and go to your Task Board.
  2. Click on Project Settings and select Install BugHerd.

    The Install BugHerd window appears.

  3. From the Install Javascript code tab, copy the javascript code.

    You'll need this code for Step 6 of the installation instructions below.

 

 

To install BugHerd in Google Tag Manager

  1. Log in to Google Tag Manager.
  2. From your container workspace, select Add a new tag.

  3. In the slide out window, name the tag BugHerd.
  4. Click Tag Configuration.

  5. From the Tag types, select Custom HTML.

  6. Paste your BugHerd javascript code from earlier into the HTML box (see below)

  7.  You need to add a trigger, so click the Triggering box.

  8. To add a new trigger, click the (+) button in the top right corner.

  9. Select Page View from the list of triggers.

  10. Choose All Page Views so BugHerd appears on all pages of your website. (recommended)
    You can choose to only show BugHerd on some pages by selecting Some Page Views.

  11. Save the trigger. To add the trigger to your tag, click Add.

  12. The trigger is added to your Tag as below.

  13. Save your tag. In your workspace, you can see the tag and trigger listed.

  14. Click Submit to publish your changes. You can now view BugHerd on your website. 
    If BugHerd does not appear, you may need to do a hard refresh.
