Overview

You can now merge multiple tasks into a single task, from the bulk actions panel.

This feature is useful if you come across similar or duplicate feedback.

Here is a quick demo video on how this feature works:

How to merge tasks

  1. Select two or more tasks in your BugHerd project – this can be done in either the Feedback tab or the Task Board.

  2. Select the 'Merge' option in the bulk actions bar.

  3. Click 'Merge tasks' button to confirm the action. The selected tasks will be merged into a single new task.

  4. You will then be prompted with a message if the task was merged successfully. Clicking the blue button will allow you to view the newly merged task.

What gets preserved when you merge

When tasks are merged:

  1. A new task will be added to your BugHerd project that combines the tasks from your selection

  2. The tasks that were selected for the merge will then be sent to the Archive tab.

The newly merged task combines:

  • Descriptions — The descriptions from each task are combined into a single description, separated by clear dividers.

  • Screenshot — The newly merged task will preserve the screenshot captured from the oldest task merged.

  • Attachments — All attachments from the merged tasks are carried over to the new task.

  • Task history — The task that were selected for the merge will be archived, and will be linked in the newly merged task.

Who sees the newly merged task?

  • Are you merging tasks created only by Member users?
✅ Any Members that reported or were assigned to the merged tasks will see the newly merged task.

  • Are you merging tasks created only by Client users?
✅ Any Clients that reported or were assigned to the merged tasks will see the newly merged task.

  • Are you merging tasks created by a mix of Member and Client users?
⚠️ Any Clients that reported or were assigned to the merged tasks will NOT see the newly merged task by default – which gives you a chance to review it first.

    • To make the newly merged task visible to your Clients, go to the 'Visible to' menu in the task > select the 'Members & Clients' option.

Notifications after a merge

When tasks are merged, the original reporters or assignee(s) or the merged tasks will be informed via an email notification.

This email can be enabled/disabled via the user icon in the top right of your BugHerd app > Edit your profile > Notifications.
